Selecting the Proper Style for Your Climate

Not all outdoor arrangements are created equal. Picking the perfect patio heater propane type guarantees that you receive the proper coverage, appearance, and warmth where you need it most.

Freestanding Tower Heaters

These are the most recognizable and well-known heaters, sometimes on restaurant patios and yard areas. Tower propane heaters radiate heat in a sphere of influence and can be able to warm spaces as big as 200 square feet. Hidden tank storage and simple-to-use ignition systems are most common on most models.

Tabletop Heaters

Tabletop heaters are strong in a compact design. They will heat a 3–5 foot radius and are best for cozy gatherings. Perfect for balcony, café table, or small patio seating areas where space is limited but ambiance is required.

Wall-Mounted Heaters

For permanent or semi-permanent outdoor space, wall-mounted propane heaters are the ideal choice. They do not take up floor space and are perfect to install under overhangs or covered patios. Just be sure to provide sufficient ventilation for efficient dispersal of gas.

Hanging Heaters

Hanging models suspended from pergolas or ceilings give overhead heat without occupying space. They offer beauty and functionality, often serving as aesthetic lights also. Most partially covered or enclosed spaces accommodate most hanging propane heaters.

Pyramid Flame Heaters

Blending form and function, pyramid heaters feature a central glass column and a flame to behold. They’re almost as much about looks as they are about heat, and therefore they’re perfect for party spaces or upscale patios.

Portable Outdoor Heaters

They can take the party wherever they go. Simple to transport and commonly on wheels, portable heaters are perfect for renters or anyone who continually rearranges their patio space.

Extend your patio season without burning through cash!

Features That Make a Difference

In addition to warmth, intelligent features bring convenience, security, and efficiency to your propane heater and make it more enjoyable and efficient throughout the year.

BTU Output

The size of a heater is in BTUs (British Thermal Units). A 40,000 BTU heater will be perfect for most residential patios. Opt for higher BTU models for outdoor areas or chillier areas. Just keep in mind, higher BTUs = quicker fuel burn.

Ignition Type

Look for easy-to-use push-button ignitions or battery-operated electronic starters. Some models even offer remote ignition. Avoid models that require manual lighting unless you’re familiar with handling open flames and gas.

Tank Access and Storage

A good patio heater propane model stores the tank discreetly inside the base. This improves stability and appearance. Quick-access doors are a bonus for fast tank changes.

Tip-Over Protection

Safety first. High-quality heaters have an automatic shut-off if tipped over. This is particularly handy under windy conditions or households with children or pets.

Wheels for Mobility

Mobility comes in handy if you’ll be rolling the heater around. Built-in wheels on models enable you to roll the heater with immediate notice—perfect for repositioning setups or following the sun.

Finish and Build Material

Select powder-coated or stainless steel finishes. These won’t rust and can be weathered. Paint finishes will chip or peel eventually, particularly during rainy weather.

Where and How to Set Your Heater

Keep It Open

Propane heaters need air circulation. Always set them outside or in open spaces. Never use a propane heater in a closed room or under a covered pergola.

Watch the Clearance

Heaters require side and overhead clearance. Follow manufacturer specifications usually 3 feet away from the wall or ceiling. Incorrect placement creates fire risks or destruction of the furniture nearby.

For Garden Corners or Deck Accents

If you have a windy patio, select a heater with a stable base or secure it. Some heaters have bases on which to place sand or water to stabilize it.

Centralize the Heater

Position your heater in the center of the seating space to heat evenly. Do not position it in corners or behind furniture, where heat is wasted or trapped.

Steer Clear of High-Traffic Areas

Position the heaters away from walkways or doors to prevent bumping them by accident. Standalone heaters are columnar in height and dangerous when tipped over.

Test Before Hosting

Before a big event, fire up your heater to check gas levels, flame quality, and safety features. Running a pre-check ensures you’re not left in the cold when guests arrive.

Fueling and Maintaining Your Heater

Most patio propane heaters have a 20 lb tank, which provides approximately 10 hours of heat when on high. Refill or replace tanks regularly to avoid running low in mid-use. For heavy use, it is convenient to have an extra tank on hand. Clean your heater every now and then, particularly the burner and ports of ignition. Remove dust or cobwebs using a soft-bristled brush. Clean the outside to avoid rusting or discoloring. Keep your heater in a dry, covered location at the end of the season or cover it with a waterproof heater cover.

Smart Add-ons and Accessories

Make your propane heater more efficient with accessories. Tank covers cover and hide your fuel source. Wind guards protect the flame in strong winds, guaranteeing maximum efficiency. Bluetooth propane tank gauges enable you to monitor fuel levels from your phone, guaranteeing that you never run out of gas when you need it. You may also complement patio heaters with stacked rugs, heavy drapes, or heat-insulating furniture to keep and reflect heat, warming and heating your room even further.

Stay Warm, Stylish, and Safe Year-Round

With the right patio heater propane setup, there’s no reason to pack up your patio when the temperature drops. From cozy nights under the stars to crisp morning coffees outdoors, propane heaters keep your space comfortable and functional in every season. By selecting the right style, features, and safety practices, you’ll enjoy efficient warmth and peace of mind no matter the weather.

LP Propane Ignite Program – Terms and Conditions

1. Eligibility and Program Requirements
To qualify for and maintain enrollment in the LP Propane Ignite Program and receive the $0.05 per gallon fuel discount, the Customer must simultaneously enroll in and maintain active status in the following three core services:

Auto Fill Delivery: The Customer authorizes LP Propane to automatically monitor, schedule, and deliver propane to the designated tank when levels dictate, bypassing the standard Will Call scheduling requirements.

Auto Pay: The Customer must maintain a valid, authorized payment method on file (Credit Card, Debit Card, or ACH/Direct Draft). Invoices will be automatically drafted within 7 days after the delivery.

Paperless Billing: The Customer agrees to receive all invoices, statements, and program communications via email. Opting out of online billing or requesting paper statements will result in a $4.95 monthly fee and disqualification from the program.

2. Fuel Discount Terms

The $0.05 per gallon discount applies exclusively to the standard market rate of propane at the exact time of delivery.

The discount is applied automatically on invoice.

This discount cannot be combined with specific commercial contract pricing or volume discounts unless expressly authorized in writing by LP Propane.

3. Tank Monitoring and Delivery Access

LP Propane may utilize physical tank monitors or advanced usage-tracking algorithms to schedule deliveries.

Access Requirements: The Customer must ensure the propane tank is always completely accessible to delivery personnel and vehicles. The pathway must be free of obstacles, locked gates, debris, or unrestrained animals within a 100-foot radius.

Seasonal Maintenance: During winter months, the Customer is legally responsible for clearing snow, ice, and paths leading to the tank. If a delivery vehicle cannot safely access the tank, the delivery will be delayed, and any emergency filling fees incurred due to subsequent low fuel levels will be billed to the Customer.

4. Credit Status and Payment Failures

If an Auto Pay transaction is declined or fails for any reason (e.g., expired card, insufficient funds), the Customer must update their account billing details immediately. If the transaction remains unprocessed for 30 days despite attempts by LP Propane to contact the Customer, the account will be automatically unenrolled from the program.

If an account balance becomes past due, LP Propane reserves the right to suspend Auto Fill privileges, pause the $0.05 per gallon discount, and transition the account to a "Will Call / Cash on Delivery" basis until the account is brought current and after review and approval of LP Propane’s credit department.

5. Program Termination or Changes

Customer Termination: Removing any of the mandatory components (Auto Fill, Auto Pay, or Paperless Billing) constitutes voluntary termination from the program. If you would like to opt out of the Ignite program you must submit 30 day written notice

Company Modifications: LP Propane reserves the right to alter, modify, or terminate the Ignite Program framework, including discount amounts or underlying eligibility terms.
