One of the most common questions we receive is, “What’s the difference between propane and liquid propane?” The answer is simple: there is no difference.
In the grilling industry, terms like propane, liquid propane, propane gas, and LP are used interchangeably. They all refer to the same substance when it comes to fueling your grill.
For those who enjoy the technical details, propane gas is stored under pressure in a tank, which turns it into a liquid. When you open the valve on your propane tank to fire up the grill, that liquid propane boils and converts back into propane gas. This gas is then channeled through the hose and regulator into your grill. Interestingly, when liquid propane converts to gas, it cools to about -43.6°F, which is why your propane tank feels cold and may even form condensation on warm, humid days.
